The concept behind Into the Abyss, was the disintegration of matter as it enters a black hole. I wanted to play with a radial design which would transform as it reached the edge of the precipice. This has been achieved by creating a sunburst effect with Wenge which I have then bleached. As it nears the edge, I have carved into the surface thus revealing its natural dark brown colour. This is a one of a kind sculptural mirror which is part of the Celestial Series which focuses on the beauty of various cosmic phenomena.
